Humanitarian Xchange named Best Charity Event/Event for Positive Change in the Conference and Event Awards

We’re delighted that the inaugural Humanitarian Xchange (HX24) was named Best Charity Event/Event for Positive Change at the Conference and Event Awards Ceremony on 5 July.

The inaugural Humanitarian Xchange (HX24) is part of a bold new global initiative launched on 20 February, led by the Humanitarian Leadership Academy (HLA) together with founding partners Brandfuel Ltd and Save the Children UK.

The mission behind HX24 – an innovative free-to-attend conference held online and in London, UK – was to provide a global platform enabling meaningful dialogue and cooperation, with the aim of sparking new ideas and solutions to create lasting change in the humanitarian sector.

The inaugural hybrid HX24 event captured the imagination of global audiences, attracting 600 in-person and 5,000 online attendees representing a diverse range of local and international humanitarian organisations, government departments, industry, research and academia from 142 countries.

Continued recognition of the Humanitarian Xchange initiative

This success at the Conference and Events Awards marks the second time that HX24 has been recognised by a competitive industry award. In April, HX24 was shortlisted for Best Advocacy Campaign in the charity/NGO sector in the Purpose Awards EMEA, an event supported by PR Week, Campaign UK and Third Sector.

Reflecting on the Humanitarian Xchange’s latest award success, Dominic Courage, the HLA Deputy Director for External Relations said:

“We’re thrilled that the ambitions and impact of the Humanitarian Xchange have been recognised at the Conference and Event Awards, with this award success in the Best Charity Event/Event for Positive Change category.

HX24 was the success that it was thanks to the enthusiastic engagement and support of partners Brandfuel and Save the Children UK – as well as the 104 speakers and many participants – who all share our collective vision and drive to create meaningful and lasting change in the humanitarian sector.”

Positive lasting impact on attendees

In post-event feedback, attendees praised HX24 for its innovative approach, including its use of technology to provide a seamless hybrid experience, and for its diverse range of sessions and speakers.

HX24’s use of technology provided a seamless hybrid event experience, creating a diverse interactive programme with global delegates.

HX24 attendee Dr Annabelle Boulay – a lecturer in Human Geography at the University of Winchester, UK, with expertise in development geography, disaster management and the humanitarian sector – recently commended the initiative for its networking and learning opportunities.

The day offered a great opportunity to network and to meet the actors of the humanitarian sector. Another highlight was to understand and explore the range of challenges faced by the humanitarian sectors and the interactions between the different agencies.

Dr Boulay also highlights the continued lasting impact of the event on her work, shaping ideas for teaching and research at her university.

My key takeaway was the different ideas that could be developed into research and collaboration with actors from the humanitarian sectors. It was great to be able to connect with other people too. I will be able to incorporate some of the ideas into my teaching and hopefully, I can encourage students to become the future humanitarian workers!

The Humanitarian Xchange continues to foster collaboration and innovation through ongoing in-person and online initiatives led by the HLA, providing essential platforms for humanitarians to learn and develop solutions for lasting change in the sector.
